Image Credit: OOCL Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has completed the first green methanol bunkering of its first methanol dual-fuel container ship at Qingdao Port in China . The bunkering of OOCL Wisdom was carried out before the vessel departed on its maiden voyage to Europe, the company said in a press release on Friday . With a capacity of 24,168 TEU , OOCL Wisdom is the first of seven-methanol dual-fuel container vessels ordered by the company. OOCL said it is currently the world's largest methanol dual-fuel container ship and has been deployed on the Asia-North Europ e service. According to local media reports, the vessel bunkered about 1,500 mt of green methanol in a ship-to-ship bunkering operation. Ship & Bunker had reported in May that the naming ceremony of the vessel was held at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co . The vessel is capable of running on methanol and conventional marine fuels. “ OOCL Wisdom completed its first green methanol bunkering and commenced its maiden voyage to Europe at Qingdao Port, representing a significant achievement of the deepening collaboration between OOCL and Shandong Port Group, and reflecting OOCL's steadfast commitment to green and low‑carbon development, digital intelligence and sustainability,” Peter Pan, director of trades of OOCL, said.
