Recent developments There have been reported groundings, including two recent incidents at the harbour entrance to the port of Durban. In the first case it was reported that MV Pacific Quartz touched the north breakwater and the second vessel MV ER Elsfleth touched bottom in early December.
Members are advised to renew warnings to crew about the personal possession of contraband and other prohibited articles. When a vessel is a given port, the laws of that country will apply, this includes jurisdiction over any personal possessions of the crew.
