The Port Authority of Valencia is advancing the RENMARINAS project, awarding construction management and health and safety coordination services for two renewable energy installations at the ports of Valencia and Sagunto. The contract has been awarded to APPLUS NORCONTROL and covers two distinct actions with a combined execution period of 13 months. At the Port of Valencia, the awarded scope covers construction management and coordination for the electrical energy evacuation system connecting a floating photovoltaic plant to the existing medium-voltage grid, at a tender base budget of EUR 97,484 including VAT. At the Port of Sagunto, the action covers the installation of an energy evacuation system from a wave power plant to the port area’s medium-voltage grid, at a tender base budget of EUR 94,860 including VAT. The wave power installation harnesses the movement of sea waves to generate electricity, representing an innovative application of marine renewable technology in a port environment. The RENMARINAS project promotes the integration of renewable technologies in the maritime-port environment, connecting new energy generation sources with existing electricity grids at both ports. It encompasses technologies including offshore wind, wave power, tidal power and other maritime renewable solutions, encouraging research, demonstration and implementation of new energy models in the port sector. The project is funded under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan through the NextGenerationEU framework, administered via the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving.
