Cool Carriers has taken delivery of Snow Flake, the second vessel in its new-generation Snow-class series, continuing its fleet renewal programme for the global refrigerated cargo market. The vessel was officially named at Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan on 29 June, three months after the delivery of her sister ship, Snow Flower. Snow Flake is the second of seven Snow-class vessels scheduled for delivery by 2028. Designed for specialised reefer trades, each Snow-class vessel can carry up to 5,000 high-cube pallets of perishable cargo together with 168 refrigerated containers at a service speed of 18 knots. Depending on the vessel, cargo capacity exceeds 630,000 cubic feet, with later units offering around 660,000 cubic feet. The newbuildings feature advanced hull and propulsion systems, including energy-efficient engines that comply with IMO and EU environmental requirements through 2030 and beyond. “With the delivery of Snow Flake under our commercial operations, we continue the modernisation of our fleet through advanced ship design and engineering,” said Glenn Selling, Chief Operating Officer of Cool Carriers. “The Snow-class represents the next stage in the evolution of our specialised fleet, enabling us to meet our customers’ growing requirements for efficient, reliable and sustainable transportation.” Snow Flake will sail from Japan to New Zealand before entering refrigerated trades to Europe, including calls in Spain and Italy. Cool Carriers said the new vessels will further strengthen its position on key refrigerated routes linking Chile, Ecuador, South Africa, Argentina and New Zealand with global markets.
