The Port of Savannah handled 483,684 TEUs in June, an increase of 18% compared with the same month last year, closing fiscal year 2026 on a strong note. For the full fiscal year (1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026), Savannah handled 5.67 million TEUs, slightly below the 5.7 million TEUs recorded a year earlier. The Appalachian Regional Port posted a record year. The inland terminal handled 49,319 intermodal containers, up 20% from FY2025. In May, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) opened the US$134 million Gainesville Inland Port, expanding rail connectivity for manufacturers and distributors in northeast Georgia. “We finished the fiscal year on a strong volume note,” said Griff Lynch, CEO of the Georgia Ports Authority. “Our port and inland infrastructure are all coming together nicely.” Rail remained a key part of Savannah’s logistics network. Mason Mega Rail handled 541,405 containers during FY2026, marking the third consecutive year above the half-million mark. Rail accounted for 17% of the port’s container traffic. The GPA also signed a five-year extension of its memorandum of understanding with the Panama Canal Authority, reaffirming cooperation between the two organizations. Meanwhile, the Port of Brunswick handled 763,122 RoRo units during FY2026. The total included 713,179 vehiclesand 49,943 units of heavy machinery.
