Thordon Bearings has appointed SAI Engineering as an authorised distributor, expanding its global sales and service network. SAI Engineering is a marine engineering and naval architecture company headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Its technical team has more than 10 years of experience in vessel electrification, bearing and seal installations, and retrofit projects. Supporting newbuild and retrofit projects SAI Engineering’s naval architecture experience allows the company to support newbuild projects from their early design stages. Its customers include operators and builders of ferries, river tugs, leisure craft and fishing vessels. The company also works with the Canadian Coast Guard. In addition, SAI Engineering supports Canada’s industrial and forestry sectors. The company’s focus on environmentally responsible vessel operations aligns with Thordon’s water-lubricated and grease-free bearing technologies. Thordon product portfolio The distributor agreement covers Thordon’s complete product range. This includes the COMPAC propeller shaft bearing system. The system uses seawater lubrication, eliminating the risk of sterntube oil pollution. SAI Engineering will also offer RiverTough propeller shaft bearings for abrasive and dirty water operating conditions. Moreover, the agreement covers SXL bearings and ThorPlas-Blue polymer bearings. These products support grease-free operation for rudders and deck equipment. Existing experience with Thordon products “Since establishing SAI Engineering, we continue to build on our team’s previous experience working with Thordon Bearings’ products, which have been well received by shipyard clients,” said Lara Habashy, CEO, SAI Engineering. “Members of our team have enjoyed a strong collaborative relationship with Thordon’s management since the 2010s,” added Habashy. “We truly believe in these products, which play a vital role in supporting both our customers and the environment,” she continued.
