Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens to accelerate its digital transformation and enhance operational performance through advanced technologies. The agreement was formalised during a ceremony attended by PTP Chief Executive Officer Mark Hardiman and Siemens Malaysia President and Chief Executive Officer Tindaro Danze . Under the partnership, PTP and Siemens will collaborate on pilot projects, capability development programmes and operational technology integration trials aimed at improving port efficiency and reliability. The collaboration will focus on deploying next-generation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) , the Internet of Things (IoT) and predictive maintenance solutions. The partners will also explore smart asset tracking and energy optimisation initiatives to evaluate scalability and return on investment in a live port environment. In addition to technology deployment, the partnership places a strong emphasis on workforce development. Both companies will implement technical training and capability-building programmes to prepare employees for increasingly automated and digitally enabled port operations. PTP said the agreement will also support equipment reliability through improved asset lifecycle management and enhanced service-level support. By combining PTP’s large-scale port operations with Siemens’ expertise in industrial digitalisation, automation and smart infrastructure, the two companies aim to drive innovation and strengthen the port’s long-term competitiveness.
