Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced changes to dangerous goods (DG) handling charges for containers transshipping through Singapore. The changes follow revised PSA Group classifications for several UN Numbers, with a particular focus on battery and battery-related dangerous goods . According to ONE, the revised classifications may affect cargo handling, segregation and other requirements at the port. Battery cargo moves to PSA Group 2 Selected battery-related dangerous goods will be reclassified from PSA Group 3 to PSA Group 2 . The affected UN Numbers are: UN3090, UN3091, UN3171, UN3480, UN3481, UN3536, UN3551, UN3552, UN3556, UN3557 and UN3558. ONE said the revised classifications and related DG surcharges apply to containers transshipping through Singapore. PSA introduces mandatory monitoring PSA will also require mandatory monitoring services for selected battery DG shipments . The measure follows increasing fire-related incidents and operational exceptions involving battery cargo, according to the advisory. Monitoring will particularly apply when extended dwell times at the port could create a higher safety risk. ONE advised customers to submit accurate and complete DG declarations on time. It also warned that failure to meet the revised requirements could result in penalties, delays or operational disruption. The advisory lists an effective date of 3 August 2026 for non-FMC regulated trades, FMC-regulated trades and Canada. Other local and contingency charges may also apply.
