FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” LINE) has successfully completed autonomous navigation trials for a commercial cargo vessel under the MEGURI2040 Fully Autonomous Ship Project, led by The Nippon Foundation. Following successful trials, the ship received autonomous vessel certification from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai on January 27, 2026, and passed a national inspection by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on February 9, 2026. This marks the first time in Japan that a RORO vessel has met such standards.
