Offshore contracting giant TechnipFMC has been awarded a contract by Ithaca Energy for flexible risers on the Captain development in the UK North Sea. According to the terms of the contract, TechnipFMC will design, manufacture, and install flexible risers, flowlines, and associated hardware. Financial details were not fully revealed. However, the deal was described as significant, placing it in the $75m to $250m range. The company stated that the Captain field had benefited from technology enhancements since its first production in 1997, including the second phase of an enhanced oil recovery project supported by TechnipFMC in 2024. “TechnipFMC has supported Ithaca on several subsea developments for more than a decade. We collaborated on the Captain field to optimise the layout and provide a flexible riser solution that can enhance production,” said Jonathan Landes, president of subsea at TechnipFMC. This deal comes a few weeks after Prosafe landed another extension for the accommodation unit Safe Caledonia on the same field. Ithaca Energy added seven more weeks of work at the field. The latest extension will keep the 1982-built semisubmersible on site through early February 2026. Prosafe originally signed the Captain field contract with Ithaca in August last year. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsUnited Kingdom
