Offshore drilling contractor Vantage Drilling has firmed up a contract for the 2010-built drillship Platinum Explorer. The company was given a conditional letter of award on April 23. The undisclosed client later extended it on July 22. Vantage Drilling said at the time that the award of the contract was subject to the terms and conditions agreed upon between the client and the company, and the client obtaining all necessary approvals. The contract value is approximately $80m, with an anticipated duration of 260 days to complete the campaign, inclusive of mobilisation time, paid-for contract preparation time, and demobilisation time. Now that the contract has been firmed up, the start of the campaign is set for the first quarter of 2026. The company also revealed that the board of directors established a Strategic Review Committee to support Vantage Drilling’s go-forward strategic objectives. Committee members are Jørn Madsen, Scott McReaken, David Warwick, and Ihab Toma. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsUnited Arab Emirates
