Image Credit: Ringo Ng / LinkedIn Hong Kong -based energy company CLPe has completed the first LNG bunkering operation for a dry bulk carrier at the Hong Kong outer anchorage . The operation involved supplying about 2,500 m3 of LNG following a successful cool-down operation, Ringo Ng , managing director at CLPe, said in a LinkedIn post on Monday . The vessel had completed cargo operations at a nearby mainland Chinese port before receiving the fuel. CLPe said the milestone demonstrated its ability to carry out cross-boundary LNG bunkering operations and expand services to a wider range of vessel types. The latest operation follows CLPe’s earlier delivery of LNG bunkers to a VLCC in Hong Kong waters , another first for the city. The company said the move supports Hong Kong’s ambitions to strengthen its position as an international maritime centre while helping advance shipping decarbonisation efforts through the use of cleaner marine fuels. CLPe also thanked the Chinese state-owned energy company CNOOC for its support and collaboration on the operation.
