The Greek-flagged passenger and vehicle ferry Irini K sank approximately one nautical mile off the island of Sifnos, Greece. The vessel was under tow from Kalymnos to Perama when it sank. The two people aboard were rescued by the accompanying tugboat and are reported to be in good health. A Hellenic Coast Guard patrol vessel and an anti-pollution vessel are heading to the area. Weather conditions at the time included winds of between four and five on the Beaufort scale. The circumstances surrounding the sinking remain unclear.
