GWC Group has completed one of the first frozen bulk vessel operations in Oman , expanding its cold chain network across the Gulf region. The operation covered vessel unloading, temperature-controlled storage and cross-border distribution. It also created an additional route for frozen cargo moving into Qatar. Frozen products entering Oman usually arrive in standard containers. Therefore, handling an entire frozen bulk vessel required continuous temperature control from the port to storage facilities. First operation leads to larger contract Following the first operation, GWC secured a second and larger commission. The company described it as the largest frozen bulk vessel operation it has handled to date . The customer also awarded GWC a long-term cold storage contract. As a result, the cooperation has expanded beyond vessel handling to storage and regional distribution. More than 1,000 truckloads handled GWC has also started transporting frozen poultry products by road from Barka in Oman to Qatar and Kuwait. Combined volumes have now exceeded 1,000 truckloads of frozen cargo handled, stored and distributed across GCC markets. “This operation demonstrates what our regional network is designed to do,” said Matthew Kearns, CEO of GWC Group. He added that connecting the company’s operations in Oman with its infrastructure in Qatar creates additional routes for temperature-sensitive cargo. GWC expands regional cold chain operations The Oman project forms part of GWC’s wider expansion across the Gulf. The company currently has operations across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and Bahrain. GWC said the net revenue contribution from its international operations has tripled over the past two years . The group operates more than four million square metres of logistics infrastructure and over 1,600 specialised vehicles across the GCC. It handles more than two million tonnes of freight annually.
