MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 18 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 18/06/2026 The iron ore benchmark contract I2609 traded on a weak note today, finally closing at 747 yuan/ton, down 1.13%. Port spot prices remained broadly unchanged from yesterday. Traders showed moderate willingness to sell, while steel mills stayed cautious and purchased only on an as-needed basis, with weak restocking appetite. Overall market sentiment was subdued, and trading activity was thin, with light turnover. With the holiday approaching, market trading has turned quieter, and both spot and futures prices have fluctuated within a narrow range. Looking ahead to next week, as hot metal output is expected to peak and then decline, demand for iron ore is likely to weaken. Meanwhile, falling ocean freight rates have undermined cost support. In the near term, iron ore prices are expected to continue to fluctuate with a weak bias. Download PDF Source: Metals Market Index (MMI) 2026-06-18 hellenicshippingnews... tweet Share
