MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 22 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 22/06/2026 The DCE iron ore futures continued to hit boƩom today, with the most-traded I2609 contract closing at 739.5 yuan/mt, down 0.87%. Port spot prices fell by 3-5 yuan/mt from pre-holiday levels. Traders showed low selling enthusiasm, with many holding off from offering. Wait-and-see sentiment intensified among steel mills, and only a few purchased as needed. The overall trading atmosphere was sluggish. As of now, very few deals were concluded. Last week, SMM total global iron ore shipments reached 32.98 million mt, down 7.62% WoW, while cumulative shipments were up 1.9% YoY. Shipments from both Australia and Brazil declined, while those from non-mainstream countries edged up. In addition, SMM total China iron ore arrivals stood at 27.81 million mt last week, down 7.14% WoW, with cumulative growth of 5.85% YoY. This week, supply pressure eased slightly. However, as steel mill losses deepened and blast furnace maintenance increased, hot metal output is expected to decline this week.
