Wärtsilä has signed an eight-year Lifecycle Agreement with Carnival Corporation covering four LNG-powered cruise vessels, including two ships currently under construction. The agreement marks the first long-term service contract between the two companies for Carnival Corporation’s LNG-fuelled cruise fleet. Wärtsilä booked the order during the second quarter of 2026. The agreement covers vessels operating under the Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line brands. Wärtsilä will provide lifecycle maintenance services for the ships’ dual-fuel engines and related equipment. The scope includes planned and unplanned maintenance, spare parts supply, logistics, major engine overhauls, remote monitoring, condition-based maintenance, technical audits, crew training and performance management through agreed key performance indicators (KPIs). According to Wärtsilä, the agreement aims to improve vessel reliability, maximise asset availability and reduce total operating costs by lowering unscheduled maintenance and minimising unplanned downtime. Vera Lannek, Vice President, Strategic Sourcing & Asset Management at Carnival Corporation, said the agreement supports the company’s focus on operational excellence and sustainability while helping maintain the performance of the covered vessels.
