Greece-based offshore contractor Asso.subsea has ordered a large shallow-water cable layer from China Merchants Heavy Industry. The vessel will be designed by China Merchants Industry and constructed at the China Merchants Industry Mazhou Island Base. The cable layer will be 175 m long and 41.8 m wide. It will be designed for shallow-water and bottom-sitting operations. It is equipped with a DP-2 dynamic positioning system as well as 12,000-tonne and 4,000-tonne powered rotating cable reels. The vessel will also be able to lay three cables at the same time. The cablelayer has room for 120 crew members and is methanol-ready so it can operate on carbon-neutral technology. It is expected to be delivered in 2027. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsChina Greece Offshore Wind
