A steel cutting ceremony marking the official commencement of construction for another 175,000 m³ LNG carrier, designated G175K-11, was held on July 28, 2026 at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry. The vessel is being built for COSCO Shipping LNG Investment and surveyed by China Classification Society, with senior representatives from CSLNG, China International United Petroleum and Chemicals, Sinopec Kantons Holdings and DSIC attending the ceremony alongside Zhang Hui, General Manager of CCS Dalian Branch. The vessel is independently developed and designed by DSIC as a second-generation large LNG carrier, incorporating advanced technologies and performance parameters that fully meet the operational requirements of mainstream LNG shipping routes worldwide. The design achieves leading principal dimensions and transport efficiency among comparable vessels, with construction standards, safety codes and quality management systems aligned with the world’s most stringent industrial benchmarks, delivering further improvements in economic performance and seaworthiness. CCS Dalian Branch is currently conducting construction surveys across a total of 11 vessels in the 175,000 m³ LNG carrier series. The programme features tight timelines and numerous critical milestones, with the CCS survey team maintaining close coordination with the shipowner, shipyard and other stakeholders, drawing on accumulated experience from earlier sister ships and proactively supporting the resolution of technical challenges. CCS surveyors have remained stationed on-site throughout the programme, including during periods of extreme heat, to safeguard key project milestones and ensure high-quality vessel delivery.
