The 81,200 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carrier was launched yesterday at the Tsuneishi shipyard on Xiushan Island in Zhoushan , the firm said in a LinkedIn post on Friday . The dual-fuel vessel is scheduled for delivery at the end of October 2026 . “Safe Bulkers, Inc. continues to advance its fleet renewal program through the acquisition of next‑generation EEDI Phase 3 vessels and the integration of technologies that enhance both operational and energy efficiency,” the firm said. A second dual-fuel methanol is expected to join the firm’s fleet next year. While methanol is gaining traction as a marine fuel, the global methanol-fuelled fleet remains heavily concentrated in the container segment. According to DNV data, there are currently 145 methanol-fuelled ships in operation, including 83 container ships and 41 tankers, with bulk carriers still representing only a small share of the fleet.
