Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a weekly rail connection between Rotterdam and Germersheim to support inland transport capacity amid critical water levels on the Rhine. The temporary service will operate from 18 September to 31 December 2026. It will provide an alternative to the carrier’s existing barge network between Rotterdam and Germany’s Rhine region. The first export train will depart Germersheim on 18 September and is scheduled to arrive in Rotterdam on 19 September. The first import departure from Rotterdam will take place on 19 September, with arrival in Germersheim scheduled for 21 September. The rail connection will offer weekly capacity of 88 TEU in each direction. The post Hapag-Lloyd adds Rotterdam–Germersheim rail connection appeared first on Container News .
