Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a new Street Turn Charge (STC) in Nigeria from 1 October 2026. The charge will apply to containers moved under street turn arrangements in the country. A street turn allows an import container to be directly reused for a local export shipment under merchant haulage bookings. Charges vary by container type For a 20-foot dry container , the new charge will be NGN 15,000 per container . The rate for a 40-foot dry container will be NGN 20,000 . Reefer containers will face higher charges. The STC will be NGN 45,000 for a 20-foot reefer and NGN 60,000 for a 40-foot reefer. Charge also covers triangulation Hapag-Lloyd said the charge will also apply to triangulation arrangements . This occurs when import on-carriage is combined with export pre-carriage. Both movements are then completed as one trip by the subcontractor or trucker. The new charge applies to all containers moved under these arrangements in Nigeria from 1 October.
