The Port of HaminaKotka handled 380,878 TEUs during the first seven months of 2026, representing a 1.5% decline compared with the same period last year. In July alone, container traffic reached 53,499 TEUs, according to the Finnish port’s latest traffic statistics. Overall cargo traffic also declined during the January-July period. HaminaKotka handled 7.28 million tonnes, down 9.8% from 8.07 million tonnes during the corresponding period of 2025. July traffic stood at approximately 968,000 tonnes. Exports fall 12.7% Exports accounted for the majority of cargo handled at the port. However, export volumes fell 12.7% year-on-year to 4.91 million tonnes. Dry bulk exports recorded one of the largest declines. Volumes fell 24.7% to 1.32 million tonnes. General cargo exports decreased 43.2% to 61,469 tonnes. Sawn goods declined 9.6%, while wood pulp volumes fell 11.1%. Paper exports also decreased 4.4% to 1.25 million tonnes. In contrast, exports classified as other goods increased 14.1% to 375,344 tonnes. Imports showed greater resilience during the period. Total import volumes reached 2.36 million tonnes, down 3.3% year-on-year. Dry bulk imports increased 8.7%, while liquid bulk volumes rose 2.4%. Other goods recorded the strongest increase at 28.7%. However, raw wood imports dropped 20.3% to approximately 740,000 tonnes. Transit traffic drops 25% Transit cargo recorded another significant decline. Volumes fell 25.2% to 1.36 million tonnes during January-July. Meanwhile, coastal traffic increased 42.1% to 32,326 tonnes. Vessel traffic reached 1,086 calls, down 16.6% compared with the first seven months of 2025.
