Greece’s Golden Energy Management has placed another suezmax tanker order in South Korea, extending its fleet renewal drive in the crude segment. Shipbroking sources say the Athens-based owner, controlled by the Restis family, has contracted DH Shipbuilding for a 157,000 dwt vessel at a price of around $89.5m and delivery expected in 2029. The latest deal marks a return to the Korean yard, formerly known as Daehan Shipbuilding, and builds on a string of orders placed over the past three years. Golden Energy has already booked four suezmax newbuildings at the yard since early 2023, with deliveries running through 2027. The new contract brings the tally to five units as the company continues to modernise its tanker fleet. The group, which also operates in the dry bulk sector, controls a fleet of more than 10 tankers and has been steadily expanding its presence in the suezmax segment. For DH Shipbuilding, the order adds to a growing pipeline of tanker work.
