Image Credit: Daniele Corti / LinkedIn Energy services firm Axpo has completed its first ship-to-ship bio-LNG bunkering operation in Barcelona, supplying fuel to a vessel operated by Japanese shipping firm Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) . MOL's vehicle carrier Lapis Ace received bio-LNG from Axpo's bunkering vessel Green Pearl , the firm said in an email update on Monday . The operation follows earlier LNG bunkering deliveries by Axpo in Malaga and Algeciras , making Barcelona the third major Spanish port where the company has carried out ship-to-ship LNG operations. "The refuelling operation with MOL in Barcelona represents another key moment for LNG adoption in Spain," Daniele Corti , Head of Small-Scale LNG at Axpo, said. Last week, MOL announced a marine fuel supply agreement with Axpo and Titan . Under the deal, Axpo will supply bio-LNG to MOL's LNG-fuelled vehicle carriers across the Mediterranean , including at the ports of Barcelona and Malaga , building on a supply partnership launched in March 2025 .
