JSV Group has welcomed MilaGreen, its first Next Generation container vessel, at the company’s Alicante hub. The vessel sailed approximately 13,600 nautical miles from Shanghai, where the shipyard built it. MilaGreen will now enter service and strengthen JSV Group’s domestic and international maritime connections. Supporting JSV Group’s Move to Green strategy The vessel’s arrival represents a new milestone in JSV Group’s Move to Green strategy. Through this programme, the company aims to develop a more efficient and sustainable logistics model. MilaGreen will help JSV Group reduce emissions and begin the ISO 14064 certification process. Consequently, the company plans to provide customers with independently certified information about emissions reductions from their logistics activities. “The MilaGreen will mark a turning point for Spanish maritime logistics,” said Sonia Herzog, CEO, JSV Group. “Its arrival is one of the most significant milestones in our company’s history and reinforces our commitment to a more efficient, sustainable logistics model that is better adapted to our customers’ needs,” added Herzog. MilaGreen container capacity MilaGreen has a nominal capacity of 1,200 TEUs. Its design allows the vessel to carry containers both below deck and on deck. The ship can accommodate 45-foot, Pallet Wide High Cube and reefer containers. Therefore, it can support different cargo and equipment requirements. Alongside the vessel, JSV Group will introduce 450 new containers as part of its latest investment. Methanol-ready technology MilaGreen features Methanol Ready technology. This capability will allow the vessel to use methanol once the necessary bunkering infrastructure becomes available. According to JSV Group, methanol could reduce CO₂ emissions by between 40% and 70%. It could also virtually eliminate sulphur oxide emissions.
