Celsius Tankers, a unit of Danish owner Celsius Shipping, has ordered an additional 180,000 cu m LNG carrier at Samsung Heavy Industries. The newbuild will deliver in 2027 and enter into a long-term charter with Japanese utility JERA. Celsius said its LNG carrier design will minimise CO2 emissions and methane slip from operations via the installation of the latest available features, including the latest WIN-GD X-DF 2.2 propulsion system. The South Korean shipbuilder said in a regulatory filing earlier it had won an order for an LNG carrier worth around $261.5m, without disclosing the owner behind the deal. The order takes the builder’s LNG carrier backlog to 84 vessels, worth around $19.1bn. Meanwhile, for Celsius Tankers, the deal takes its fleet of 180,000 cu m units to 21, which are all technically managed in-house by Celsius Tech. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsDenmark South Korea
