Minerva Marine has added two more feeder containerships to its orderbook at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, lifting the total number of firm newbuildings in its programme to six. The Greece-based owner, led by Andreas Martinos, has now firmed up a second pair of 1,800 teu vessels at the Chinese yard, having originally signed for two ships there and two more at Huanghai Shipbuilding. The broader programme included options for two further units at each yard, for a total potential series of eight. The vessels are expected to run on conventional fuel, with unit costs reported between $30m and $33m, according to newbuilding brokers in Athens. Deliveries are scheduled from late 2027 through 2028. Minerva entered the container shipping segment in 2022, starting with a feeder ship order at Yangzijiang.
