China’s Seacon Shipping continues to expand its footprint in the tanker segment with four additional MR product carrier newbuildings. Shipbuilding sources suggest the Hong Kong-listed diversified owner and operator has struck a joint venture deal with Huanghai Shipbuilding, called GHC Shipping, for a 50,000 dwt quartet set to deliver in 2026. No price has been revealed for the vessels that Seacon is expected to take on bareboat charter. The Qingdao-based company has been busy growing in the tanker arena, with several newbuild orders spread across Chinese shipyards. Seacon already has four MR newbuilds booked at Chengxi Shipyard for $45m each with deliveries set between 2026 and 2027 and an incoming series of 18,500 chemical carriers that will start joining the fleet from next year. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); });
