FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin MSC has confirmed that the container ship MSC Hermes III experienced water ingress in its engine room on 22 September, prompting the Master to order the 25-member crew to abandon the vessel. In a statement issued on 2 October, MSC said the incident occurred while the vessel was at sea, and that the abandonment was ordered as a precautionary measure. All crew members safely embarked on another MSC vessel before subsequently returning to MSC Hermes III after an assessment of the vessel’s condition. One crew member sustained a head injury during the incident and was taken into medical care. According to MSC, the seafarer is recovering well.
