American Club Circular No. 39/13 1 DECEMBER 11, 2013 CIRCULAR NO. 39/13 TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION NEW E-LEARNING MODULE ON COMPLIANCE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL MARITIME SOLID BULK CARGOES (IMSBC) CODE Your Managers are pleased to announce a new addition to the American Club’s catalog of e-learning modules. The new module covers compliance with the provisions of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code. Its aim is to familiarize Members and their crew with the requirements of the Code. Most importantly, in addressing the safe carriage of solid bulk cargoes generally, it pays particular attention to those which pose a risk of liquefying, or which possess potentially dangerous chemical properties. The module is the first in a series of bulk carrier safety training e-learning modules to be released by the Club. These will include, in 2014, modules on the Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code), the International Code for the Safe Carriage of Grain in Bulk, the Code of Safe Practice for Ships Carrying Timber Deck Cargoes (TDC Code), and the Survey and Inspection of Bulk Carriers. Members wishing to access the new IMSBC Code module should proceed as follows: A) Members who are not using the Plug & Play (PnP) hard drive systems should go to the following link: https://secure2.idessonline.com/americanclub/facility/ Instructions 1. Select "International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code" from the list of the programs. 2. Login to "Administration/Training Records" as Super Administrator. 3. Click the "CHANGE REQUEST" tab. 4. Search for the User that you wish to enroll in the corresponding module. 5. Click the "Enroll" link. 6. Tick "International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code" from the list of modules. 7. Click the "UPDATE" button. Tick "International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code" from the list of modules. 5. Click the "UPDATE ENROLLMENT" button. All Members with owner entries in the Club have access to all of the its e-learning training programs via the website https://secure.idessonline.com/americanclub/facility/, free of charge. Members who have not registered are encouraged to do so at the earliest opportunity to take advantage of all the e-learning tools available.
