A me rican Club Circular No. 1 8 /1 4 1 JULY 3, 2014 CIRCULAR NO. 18/14 TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION Dear Member: NEW E-LEARNING MODULE ON COMPLIANCE WITH THE CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE SAFE LOADING AND UNLOADING OF BULK CARRIERS (BLU CODE) AND UPDATES TO THE PLUG & PLAY HARD DRIVE SYSTEM Your Managers are pleased to announce a new addition to the American Club’s catalog of e-learning modules released in cooperation with IDESS IT, as well as updates to the “plug and play” hard drive system. BLU Code The new module covers compliance with the Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code). Its aim is to familiarize Members and their crew with the Code’s requirements in regard to bulk carriers, terminal operators and other parties concerned with the safe handling, loading and unloading of solid bulk cargoes. The contents of the module are also linked to regulation VI/7 of the 1974 SOLAS Convention, as amended by resolution MSC.47(66). This module is the second in a series of bulk carrier safety training e-learning modules released by the Club. The first was a module on compliance with International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code. The remaining modules in this series, to be released during 2014 and 2015, will address the International Code for the Safe Carriage of Grain in Bulk, the Code of Safe Practice for Ships Carrying Timber Deck Cargoes (TDC Code), and regulations concerning the Survey and Inspection of Bulk Carriers. Member access to the BLU Code module can be accomplished as follows: A) Members who are not using the Plug & Play (PnP) hard drive systems should go to the following link: https://secure2.idessonline.com/americanclub/facility/ Instructions: 1. Select "Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code)" from the list of learning modules. 2. Login to "Administration/Training Records" as Super Administrator. 3. Click the "CHANGE REQUEST" tab. 4. Search for the User that you wish to enroll in the corresponding module. 5. Click the "Enroll" link. 6. Tick the "Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code)" from the list of modules. A merican Club Circular No. 18 /1 4 2 7. Click the "UPDATE" button. B) Newly registered Members who wish to use the PnP hard drive systems for the module should go to the following link: https://secure2.idessonline.com/americanclub/elearning/ Instructions: 1. Login as Super Administrator. 2. Search for the User that you wish to enroll in the "Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code)" module. 3. Click the “ENROLLMENT” link. 4. Tick "Code of Practice for the Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers (BLU Code)" from the list of learning modules. 5. Click the "UPDATE ENROLLMENT" button. Updates to the plug & play hard drive system In addition, the plug & play (PnP) module updates are now available to Members who have purchased the PnP hard drive.
