ECB rate hike probability rises, says Estonian central bank chief in World Economy News 11/03/2026 The probability that the European Central Bank’s next interest rate change will be a rate hike has increased, Estonian central bank Governor Madis Muller said on Wednesday. Speaking at a conference in Vilnius, Muller said the ECB must now weigh the surge in energy prices and needs to see if this move and the subsequent impact on inflation proves to be temporary or longer lasting. “Even if we shouldn’t rush into decisions, the probability of the next change in the policy rates now being more towards an increase, rather than the opposite, that probably has gone up in the last couple of weeks,” Muller said in a panel discussion.
