DP World Cochin handled a record 97,952 TEUs in August 2026, marking the highest monthly container throughput in the terminal’s history. Volumes at the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) increased 51% compared with August 2025. Container volumes reach new high The August performance followed two months of strong container traffic at the terminal. ICTT handled 74,644 TEUs in June and 74,585 TEUs in July. Throughput then climbed to 97,952 TEUs in August. DP World said the performance reflects the terminal’s growing role in regional and international trade. The terminal also handled 51 ad hoc vessel calls between June and August. According to DP World, the additional calls came as shipping lines adjusted cargo flows amid geopolitical disruptions. Cochin handles additional vessel traffic DP World said ICTT continued to accommodate the additional vessel traffic while maintaining its regular operations. The terminal is designed to handle large container vessels and provides connections for Indian import and export cargo. “Our record throughput in August, together with consistently strong volumes in recent months, reflects the dedication of our team and the trust our customers place in DP World Cochin,” said Hemant Kumar Ruia, Country Manager, Subcontinent (India), DP World. He added that the terminal has capacity to accommodate larger vessels and additional container volumes. DP World expands logistics operations in Cochin DP World has also developed a Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) at Cochin. The facility provides storage, consolidation and distribution services for import and export cargo. Together, the warehousing facility and container terminal form part of DP World’s wider logistics operations in the region.
