News 10 Jul, 2013 Egypt - Port Situation Club correspondents Middle East Survey and Control Office, Alexandria have provided the Managers with an update on the current port situation in Egypt given the unrest in certain parts of the country. All Egyptian ports and the Suez Canal are operating normally at present with security being provided by both the police and army. So far there have been no disturbances reported near any port area. However, vessels visiting Egyptian ports or transiting the Suez Canal are advised to be aware of the heightened tension and the possibility that the security situation might worsen. In particular, care should be taken to ensure that only anticipated visitors are allowed to board the vessel. If it is necessary to carry out a crew change, this should be completed during the morning as demonstrations ashore usually take place later in the day. Further updates will be posted on the Club's website as and when received.
