A passenger ferry and a Ro-Ro cargo vessel were involved in a minor collision inside the Port of Souda, Crete, according to local media reports. The incident involved the passenger and vehicle ferry Elyros and the Ro-Ro cargo vessel Iosif K. while both ships were operating within the port area. The Elyros, which was departing on its scheduled service to Piraeus with approximately 100 passengers on board, returned to the Port of Souda following the collision. At the same time, the Iosif K. was entering the port. According to local media no passengers or crew members were injured in the incident. Authorities also confirmed that no marine pollution was reported as a result of the collision. The Iosif K. was subsequently guided safely to its berth under the supervision of officers from the Hellenic Coast Guard. Port authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the marine accident.
