Lufthansa Cargo has signed an agreement to acquire 100 percent of LUG aircargo handling GmbH, with the transaction signed on September 7, 2026. The acquisition is described as one of the key pillars of Lufthansa Cargo’s growth strategy, intended to create the infrastructural foundation for future profitable growth and strengthen the company’s competitiveness in its home market. The acquisition provides Lufthansa Cargo with immediately available additional handling capacity within Germany, complementing its existing ground handling infrastructure currently undergoing fundamental modernisation through the LCCevo programme, a total investment of approximately EUR 600 million. Together, these investments are designed to support future volume growth while maintaining high-quality and reliable services for customers. LUG aircargo handling GmbH will continue to operate independently following the acquisition, preserving its established structures and customer relationships. The transaction will have no immediate impact on customers of either company. Completion is subject to antitrust and regulatory approvals.
