Maersk has introduced an updated fuel surcharge for inland transport in Greece, citing higher fuel costs caused by the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East. The carrier said the temporary measure is designed to offset increased fuel expenses while maintaining reliable logistics services. Instead of the usual monthly review, the surcharge will now be assessed on a weekly basis, with updated rates announced every Friday for the following week. During this period, no price trigger mechanism will apply. Effective 20 July 2026, the fuel surcharge for truck transport in Greece has been set at 7.5%. The surcharge will appear on customer invoices as EFS (Export Fuel Surcharge) for export shipments and IFS (Import Fuel Surcharge) for imports. Maersk said the measure will remain in place for as long as necessary to cover elevated fuel costs. The carrier added that it will continue monitoring market conditions on a country-by-country basis and adjust fuel surcharges where required.
