Maersk has announced revised Intermodal Fuel Fee (EFS/IFS) levels for the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom, citing continued volatility in global energy markets driven by the evolving security situation in the Middle East. The carrier said rising fuel prices, combined with the fact that around 20% of global fuel supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz, continue to increase the cost of inland and intermodal transportation. The temporary fuel adjustments are intended to help maintain service continuity, protect cargo integrity and secure transport capacity across its network. Effective from 1 August 2026, the updated Intermodal Fuel Fees are: Republic of Ireland Truck: 0.9% United Kingdom Truck or rail: 3.8% Maersk noted that customers with bespoke pricing agreements may be subject to different fuel fee levels, which will be communicated directly by their account managers. The carrier said the surcharge will continue to be reviewed on a monthly basis and may be adjusted further as market conditions evolve.
