Subsea7 has picked up a new subsea contract offshore Angola, continuing its run of work in West Africa. The Oslo-listed contractor said ExxonMobil has awarded a “substantial” engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) deal to the Subsea Integration Alliance (SIA), an alliance between Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea, for a tie-back linked to the Redevelopment 2.0 Likembe project in Block 15. Subsea7 typically defines a substantial contract as being worth between $150m and $300m. The work will cover the installation of subsea infrastructure needed to connect the redevelopment project back to existing facilities, a model operators continue to favour as they look to maximise output from mature offshore hubs. Project management and engineering will be split across Subsea7’s offices in Paris, Luanda, Lisbon and Sutton, reflecting the contractor’s multi-centre execution model. Under the alliance structure, SLB OneSubsea will handle the umbilical scope from its base in Moss, Norway, with support from teams in Houston. David Bertin, senior vice president for Subsea7’s global projects centre East, said the award builds on the company’s track record in key offshore regions. “This project builds on our track record in West Africa, Australia and the US,” he said. “Together with ExxonMobil, we are committed to delivering the project safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, while continuing to support the development of local capabilities in Angola.” The contract also underlines the growing role of integrated delivery models in subsea developments, where operators look to streamline interfaces between contractors. Olivier Blaringhem, chief executive of Subsea Integration Alliance, said the deal highlights the benefits of that approach. “This award further strengthens our relationship with ExxonMobil,” he says. “It demonstrates how early collaboration through Subsea Integration Alliance enables an optimised development solution and underpins our integrated commercial model.” googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsAngola
