Lithuania’s LNG terminal kicks off open season for long-term capacity in Port News 30/01/2026 KN Energies, the operator of the Lithuanian Klaipeda FSRU, launched on January 27 an open season for the allocation of long-term capacity covering the period 2033 – 2044. The operator will be offering a total of 28TWh/year or 2.6 billion cubic meters (bcm) for 12 years. A KN Energies source said the capacity will be split into packages of 4TWh each and based on multi-user model to customize the needs of different customers. The operator expects to finalize the open season and publish the results in April and May. KN Energies had a record year in 2025 as 34 LNG vessels unloaded at the terminal, compared to 30 the previous year. Speaking to ICIS, Darius Silenskis, CEO of KN Energies said the terminal‘s utilisation rate stood at 68%, significantly higher than the average utilisation rate of European terminals, which stands at 49%. The terminal positions itself as an LNG gateway for imports into central and eastern Europe, with companies in Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine using the port in recent years. Operators expect even more interest in 2026 as the Polish and Ukrainian gas grid operators have agreed to expand the export capacity from Poland by a third . This will facilitate the transit of more exports from Lithuania, Poland or Denmark to central and eastern Europe.
