FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin Portsmouth International Port has completed its first commercial shore power connection for a cruise ship, marking another step in the UK port’s transition toward lower-emission operations. Virgin Voyages’ cruise ship Valiant Lady became the first cruise vessel to connect to the port’s shore power system, allowing the ship to use electricity from the shore while berthed instead of running onboard engines, the port said in a social media update on 5 August.
