Syria plans to award oil and gas exploration licenses to major firms in Oil & Companies News 12/02/2026 Syria is preparing to award oil and gas exploration licenses to several major energy companies, according to the head of the country’s national oil company. Youssef Qablawi, CEO of Syrian Petroleum Company, told the Financial Times that Syria has substantial undiscovered oil and gas reserves, with only a fraction of potential resources explored so far. “Maybe more than a quarter, or less than a third, has been explored,” Qablawi said. “There is a lot of land in the country that has not been touched yet. There are trillions of cubic meters of gas.” Chevron and Qatar’s Power International Holding signed an agreement last week to explore an offshore block and are expected to begin work “within two months,” according to Qablawi. A second block is under consideration by QatarEnergy and TotalEnergies, with ConocoPhillips potentially joining as an investor. ConocoPhillips signed a memorandum of understanding last year, the Financial Times reported. For a third exploration block, Qablawi said, “I am working with Eni.” Source: Investing.com 2026-02-12 hellenicshippingnews... window.___gcfg = {lang: 'en-US'}; (function(w, d, s) { function go(){ var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0], load = function(url, id) { if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;} js = d.createElement(s); js.src = url; js.id = id; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }; load('//connect.facebook.net/en/all.js#xfbml=1', 'fbjssdk'); load('https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js', 'gplus1js'); load('//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js', 'tweetjs'); } if (w.addEventListener) { w.addEventListener("load", go, false); } else if (w.attachEvent) { w.attachEvent("onload",go); } }(window, document, 'script')); tweet Share
