Image Credit: Molgas Gas firm Molgas Energy Group has carried out its first LNG bunkering operation at Italy ’s Port of Palermo . The operation followed months of preparation and coordination involving Molgas teams from Italy , Spain , the Netherlands and Greece , the firm said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday . The operation, which took place last week, involved supplying LNG to a ferry and testing its fuel systems before the vessel successfully received its first LNG load. The bunkering was carried out using three tank trucks during a 10-12-hour operation. LNG bunker demand is picking up as more dual-fuel LNG ships are joining the global fleet. According to DNV data, the global LNG-fuelled fleet is made up of 892 ships with another 662 expected to join the fleet by 2030 . Molgas has been an active LNG bunker supplier in the region. The company completed the full acquisition of LNG bunker supplier Titan Clean Fuels last year.
