APM Terminals Apapa recorded a 6% increase in export volumes during the first half of 2026. The Nigerian container terminal said exports have maintained a positive growth trend over the past five years. APM Terminals attributed the latest increase to stronger activity from Nigerian exporters and measures aimed at improving cargo flows. Terminal strengthens export operations APM Terminals Apapa has introduced dedicated export lanes at its gates. The measure is designed to speed up access to the terminal for export cargo. The terminal has also expanded the use of rail services to support cargo movements. The Lagos-Moniya rail connection operates three times per week. It provides exporters with an alternative to road transport and reduces exposure to traffic congestion around Apapa. Export cargo also reaches the terminal through the Ebute Metta rail corridor. “Our role goes beyond handling containers. We want to make it easier, faster and more competitive for Nigerian exporters to access global markets,” said Kamal Alhraishat, Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa. The terminal’s main export commodities include soybeans, cashew nuts, cocoa, hibiscus flowers and solid minerals. Export growth continues APM Terminals Apapa has recorded export growth in recent years. In 2024, export volumes increased by 10%, while imports rose by 13%. The terminal has also invested in additional yard capacity to accommodate export cargo and improve customs clearance processes. APM Terminals said it will continue working with exporters, government agencies, shipping lines and logistics companies to improve Nigeria’s export supply chain.
