Maersk has announced several surcharge changes covering Middle East-Pakistan cargo and inland transport across parts of Europe. The carrier will increase its Emergency Contingency Surcharge (ECS) on dry cargo moving from the Middle East to Pakistan from 1 September 2026. Maersk has also updated its Intermodal Fuel Fees for Poland, Benelux and the DACH region. The new rates will apply from 17 to 31 August. Middle East-Pakistan surcharge increases Maersk will raise its ECS for dry cargo moving from several Middle Eastern countries to Pakistan. For 20-foot dry containers, the surcharge will increase from US$1,800 to US$2,050. For 40-foot dry, high-cube and 45-foot high-cube containers, the charge will rise from US$3,000 to US$3,500. The surcharge covers cargo originating in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait and Jordan. The new rates will apply from a Price Calculation Date of 1 September. Maersk updates Poland fuel fees Maersk has also revised its Intermodal Fuel Fee in Poland. From 17 to 31 August, truck transport will carry a 12% fuel fee. Rail Combined Operations (RCO) will be subject to a 6% fee. The percentages will apply to Maersk’s Import Haulage Inland and Export Haulage Inland charges. New fuel fees for Benelux In Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Maersk will apply a 10% fuel fee to truck transport. Barge and Barge Combined Operations (BCO) will also carry a 10% fee. The RCO rate will be 5%. These rates will also apply from 17 to 31 August. Germany, Austria and Switzerland rates The same rates will apply across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Truck transport will carry a 10% fee, while barge and BCO services will also be subject to a 10% charge. The RCO fuel fee will stand at 5%. Maersk said the intermodal fees reflect volatility in global energy markets and higher fuel costs. The carrier reviews the fuel surcharge every two weeks due to changing market conditions.
