Konecranes has won two crane modernization contracts from AXIA Energia for hydropower plants in Brazil. The projects cover the Manso and Mascarenhas de Moraes plants. The companies signed the contracts in May 2026. Konecranes will complete the work in 2027. The company will modernize five cranes. The fleet includes two overhead cranes and three gantry cranes. Konecranes will replace drives, motors and braking systems. It will also install variable frequency drives (VFDs), upgrade the control systems, add radio remote controls and modernize the operator cabins. At the Mascarenhas de Moraes plant in Minas Gerais, Konecranes will upgrade a gantry crane with a 200-ton main hoist and a 25-ton auxiliary hoist. The work will begin in February 2027. At the Manso plant in Mato Grosso, the company will modernize four cranes. The project will finish by the end of 2027. The crane upgrades support AXIA Energia’s wider hydropower modernization program.
