NexusWave is presented as Inmarsat Maritime’s new flagship service, already ordered for more than 3,000 vessels. Its appeal lies in the combination of unlimited data, bonded connectivity across different carriers, and a highly secure network architecture designed to support both operational and crew communication needs. By bonding different types of connectivity, NexusWave creates what Panken described as a much larger “pipe” for customers, enabling more resilient and reliable communications. Security is also central to the service. Each packet transmitted over the network is encrypted and spread across multiple routes, while industry-grade security mechanisms are applied once the data reaches Inmarsat’s land infrastructure. For Inmarsat Maritime, cybersecurity is not treated as an additional layer, but as something embedded from the design stage.
