UK engineering group Wood has landed a $27m EPCI contract from Equinor to upgrade key infrastructure tied to the Snorre field in the Norwegian North Sea. The scope covers topside modifications and control system upgrades on the Gullfaks A platform, enabling gas imports and exports between the Snorre and Gullfaks fields through a new inter-field pipeline. The work forms part of Equinor’s SNEIG project, which aims to improve production flexibility and extend the life of its mature assets. Wood will handle gas import enablement from Snorre, upgrades to fiscal metering for both directions of gas flow, and integration of the systems with existing platform infrastructure. The improvements are designed to support long-term field performance and increase operational efficiency. The award follows Wood’s delivery of FEED for the project earlier this year and builds on its long-running work across Equinor’s portfolio. The company has provided maintenance, repair and modifications services on Snorre A and B since 2016. More than 70 Wood personnel, mainly based in Sandefjord, will deliver the contract. Meanwhile, in the Caribbean, Wood’s joint venture Massy Wood has secured the EPC and commissioning contract for brownfield upgrades on bp Trinidad and Tobago’s Juniper platform as part of the offshore Ginger development. The JV will carry out detailed engineering and topside modifications, including subsea pipeline corrosion protection upgrades and integration of methanol injection systems—critical for safe well start-up and flexible operations.
