The Port of Singapore handled 3.83 million TEUs in June 2026 , a 3.2% increase compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) . The growth came alongside higher vessel traffic, reinforcing Singapore’s position as the world’s busiest transshipment hub. Total vessel arrivals reached 11,520, up 6.3% year on year, while vessel arrivals measured by gross tonnage increased 6.5% to 279.83 million GT. Despite the increase in ship calls and container volumes, total cargo throughput slipped 1.4% to 49.21 million tonnes, suggesting weaker performance in non-container cargo segments. Bunker sales edge higher Singapore also maintained its leadership in the global bunkering market. Total bunker sales reached 4.669 million tonnes in June, an increase of 1.6% compared with the same month in 2025. Conventional marine fuels accounted for the vast majority of demand, totaling 4.577 million tonnes. Alternative fuels continued to gain traction, although they still represent a relatively small share of the market. LNG bunker sales reached 55,000 tonnes, while biofuel sales totaled 38,000 tonnes. Container market remains resilient The latest figures indicate that container activity at Singapore remains resilient despite continued geopolitical uncertainty affecting global shipping. Ongoing disruptions in the Red Sea, tensions in the Middle East and changing liner network strategies have continued to reshape vessel deployment. Even so, Singapore continues to attract strong vessel traffic and stable container volumes as carriers rely on the hub for transshipment operations. While overall cargo volumes softened slightly, the continued growth in container throughput and vessel arrivals highlights the port’s central role in global container shipping.
